I know you all have been bombarded with notices, news and emails about the COVID-19 situation. I am hoping, this cuts through the typical administrative emails you have been receiving.
WE ARE OPEN!
We have actively been cleaning and disinfecting ALL surfaces from the street level all the way up to our suite. All doorknobs, counter tops, tables, exam rooms and therapy equipment. We have always practiced proper hygiene practices but now we have doubled our efforts. Myself and my staff will be washing our hands between EVERY patient and if unable, will be disinfecting our hands with hand sanitizers.
All tables, chairs and surfaces will constantly be wiped down after EVERY use.
There is still much more YOU can do to protect yourselves during these times:
Your immune system is you #1 defense against all bacterial and viral infections. Fortunately, we have ultimate control over the state of our immune systems and our families. Here are some of the best practices that we follow even in our own homes.
GET ADJUSTED. Regular chiropractic adjustments have been proven to boost your immune system. This is accomplished by improving the state of the nervous system which in turn improves the immune system.
GET PLENTY OF SLEEP. Often minimized as a source of immune response but studies have shown that deep sleep improves the immune system directly. Lower your lights 1 hour before bedtime, minimized backlit screens. Let your natural physiology take over and drift off into a deep slumber.
HYDRATION. The #1 deficient nutrient in most Americans is WATER. Staying hydrated is critical for EVERY biochemical process in your body including your immune system.
EAT WELL. Be sure to eat a healthy diet. Avoid sugars if possible and do not overeat. Try to eat smaller meals throughout the day instead of sitting and eating 3 meals a day. This helps sustain a proper blood sugar level and prevents the moments of being “famished”.
HEALTHY SOCIALIZATION. Although the government is encouraging “de-socialization”. I encourage you to reconnect with your nuclear family through conversation and family games. Family communication and physical touch have long been associated with decreased stress and improved overall health including the immune systems of the entire family.
The chiropractic industry is communicating together as well and as one of my colleagues said, “Let’s practice PRUDENCE but not PANIC”. Taking the above precautions is PRUDENT.
Thank you all for the opportunity to serve you and your families.

Your Central Nervous System
The Central Nervous System is the master control system of the body and every single function reflects its activity. Nerve impulses travel from the brain, down the spinal cord and out through nerves to all parts of the body. Nerve Impulses then return to the brain through return pathways. There are in excess of 100 billion neurons, or nerve cells in the human central nervous system and the number of possible interconnections between these cells is greater than the total number of electrons in the known universe.
Recent research has clearly shown that even activity that occurs at the cellular and molecular levels are controlled and coordinated by the Central Nervous System. The foundation of health begins with a properly functioning nervous system, to the extent that we can equate levels of function and healing capability with the ability of the nervous system to send and receive information. There is a greater quantity of communication in the human body than all of the combined man-made communication systems in the world and the coordination and precision of neurological and biological communication systems is unparalleled.
“To understand health is to understand the central role of the brain and nervous system in maintaining the resistance of the body. Health maintenance is the primary function of the brain, not educational thoughts, language, poetry and other functions usually associated with the brain.”
Please ask the Doctor how you can make certain you have a properly functioning nervous system!
Meet The Staff
Dr. Mark Jensen grew up in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, a small town in the southeastern part of the state. During his childhood, he participated in many sports such as football, basketball, baseball, track, and hockey. He later became involved in golf and rugby as well and has been no stranger to sports injuries. These injuries and a knack for science and biology led to an interest in health care, although it was an auto accident while attending the University of Minnesota that led to his first chiropractic experience. So impressed by the quality of the care and the 100% natural approach of chiropractic, he accepted the challenge of becoming a Chiropractor. Six years later in 1996, he graduated from Northwestern College of Chiropractic in Bloomington, Minnesota with both Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Chiropractic degrees.
Following graduation, Dr. Jensen relocated from Minnesota to Rocky Mount, North Carolina where, as an associate with Hammer Chiropractic, he treated thousands of patients young and old suffering auto accident and athletic injuries, neck and low back pain, headaches, TMJ, sciatica, disc injuries, and carpal tunnel syndrome, among many other conditions. After nine years of practice in Rocky Mount, Dr. Jensen decided to open his own office in Raleigh, and in October 2006, opened Corrective Chiropractic.
Corrective Chiropractic is conveniently located in the Glenwood South area of downtown Raleigh. This beautiful office offers state of the art technology used to detect and correct posture and spinal dysfunction, utilizing computerized thermal and muscle testing and high-speed full spine x-ray as well as spinal traction. Dr. Jensen uses several spinal adjusting techniques (Diversified, Gonstead, and CBP) as well as soft tissue adjusting techniques (active myofascial release, trigger point therapy and electric stimulation). Neuromuscular retraining and exercise are also used to help retrain the body to healthier patterns of function.
Corrective Chiropractic is a large chiropractic office that services many Raleigh families. Dr. Jensen’s mission through Corrective Chiropractic is to educate and adjust as many families toward optimal health using natural chiropractic care. To fulfill this purpose, Dr. Jensen provides education through classes in his office and at venues around town such as the YWCA and Target. He is also active at many local health fairs and 5K races around Raleigh; he further donates his time in support of the Raleigh Rugby Club (2007 Division II National Rugby Champions) and is available to speak to local organizations and office groups about natural and proactive health care.
Continuing education is important to Dr. Jensen who consistently reads chiropractic journals for the latest news and health updates, and attends seminars throughout the country to study the latest information and techniques for the benefit of his patients.
Dr. Jensen resides in Raleigh and enjoys sports of all kinds. In his free time, he can often be found traveling with his fiancee, Kelly or at home cooking and hanging out with their dogs.
Reduced fat, low carb, high fiber, fewer calories… Manufacturers constantly devise numerous schemes to get your food dollars with so-called improved and healthier foods. The reality is a cookie is a cookie, period. (Yep, even that silly Cookie Diet.)Any time you remove something from a food, you’ve got to add something else. Manufacturers compensate low-fat yogurt, for instance, with added sugar. Low-carb foods, likewise, often come packed with artificial sweeteners, sugar alcohols, and higher amounts of saturated fat.
Rather than buy supposedly healthier versions of junk foods, I want you to fill up on whole foods so you have no cabinet space (let alone appetite) for the Entenmann’s Crumb Coffee Cake and Pirate’s Booty aged white cheddar popcorn. Before you take away, add these five things to your diet for fast fat loss:
1. Fiber. Want the number one nutrient that, hands down, gets a fast fat loss? Fiber slows stomach emptying and suppresses ghrelin, a hormone your stomach produces to remind you to eat. More fiber means you’re less likely to go down in those walnut blondies you made for your daughter’s class.
Fiber also helps you detox, lowers LDL cholesterol and raises HDL cholesterol, and helps support a healthy gastrointestinal tract. If you’re not meeting your fiber quota from food, Medibulk from Thorne Research provides a therapeutic eight grams of fiber per serving.
2. Xylitol. Dump the aspartame and all those other artificial sweeteners that create calorie dysregulation and make you fat. Xylitol is a natural sweetener found in fruits and vegetables that support bone health, reduces cavities, and helps boost fast fat loss. Like fiber, xylitol suppresses ghrelin. A study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that people who used xylitol at meals became satiated with fewer calories.
3. Vegetables. Let’s get this out first: corn, potatoes, peas, and carrots are not vegetables. That said, you could eat bushels of spinach and still not tally up many calories. Vegetables – particularly green, leafy ones – are nutrient- and fiber-packed powerhouses for very few calories.
Be creative: even your most finicky kid will love Brussels sprouts sautéed in olive oil with a little organic bacon. (Some good fat will help you absorb the veggie’s fat-soluble vitamins.) If you’re not meeting your five-to-10 veggies serving quota, find creative ways to incorporate them like a mixed-green salad or a hearty winter soup.
4. Fish. Fat helps you burn fat? I know, it sounds crazy. But omega 3 fatty acids in wild, cold-water fish can shunt fat away from fat cells and allow your body to burn it for fuel. A study in the journal Appetite concluded eating fish suppresses post-meal hunger longer. Omega 3s also increase insulin sensitivity and raise your metabolism, both of which help you burn fat.
A study in the Journal of Nutrition showed that mice that got fish oil with their high-fat diet metabolized more fat and gained significantly less weight than the high-fat mice that didn’t get fish oil.
5. Green Tea. You know all those fast fat loss supplements that celebrities endorse? Almost every one contains a compound in green tea called EGCG, which boosts metabolism and helps you burn more fat. Skip those overpriced supplements and your afternoon latte for a venti hot green tea. A study in the journal Physiology & Behavior concluded people who drink green tea burn more fat than non-tea drinkers. Green tea also contains theanine, which reduces stress, cortisol levels, and your waistline.
Kids and Vaccinations
Kids who get sick the most seem to be the same ones who were vaccinated. Here’s another interesting fact, the healthiest children you’ll ever meet are the ones whose parents refuse to vaccinate them.
Nearly all the sick kids are the very same ones who have been injected multiple times, poked and prodded and who follow “conventional” advice about avoiding vitamins and putting their children on medication. These are the sniveling, sneezing kids who are plagued by allergies and autoimmune disorders.
The toxic load of all the vaccines and medications – combined with the total lack of real nutrition and mineralization – puts these kids on track to be sick in their future.
As a concerned parent, you need to know there are alternatives. Please ask the doctor today to share them with you!
more likely to get the disease than unvaccinated populations.
